07/23/2024 - New Community Dental Care Clinic Increases Access for Thousands in Need

CRYSTAL, MINN. – Community Dental Care will celebrate its newest clinic with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, July 26th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. The event is open to the public and will be hosted at Community Dental Care, 5700 Bottineau Blvd, Suite 250, Crystal, MN 55429. Community Dental Care leaders and elected officials will share remarks as part of the program, followed by a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and clinic tours.

Community Dental Care, a 501(c)3 nonprofit provider of comprehensive dental care for people of all ages and abilities across Minnesota, is relocating its Robbinsdale clinic to nearby Crystal to significantly increase access to care for people in need. Access to dental care is a serious challenge for low-income and diverse populations, especially in Hennepin County, where over 65% of those on Medicaid do not have access to dental care each year. Moreover, people living in poverty suffer twice as much tooth decay than their more affluent peers, and their disease is more likely to remain untreated. Many of the populations served by Community Dental Care have serious dental disease and often present with emergency dental conditions. The expansion into Crystal will allow Community Dental Care to quickly see a waitlist of over 6,500 patients and increase their capacity to meet the tremendous demand for dental services. The 7,200 square foot clinic will include 14 dental operatories and will provide comprehensive dental services for 18,000 patient visits each year, a 65% increase in services.

“Expanding our services by building a new, much larger clinic in Crystal will ensure that thousands more children and families in need will receive comprehensive, culturally sensitive oral health care." Karen Flanagan Kleinhans, MHA, CEO, Community Dental Care

The new dental clinic will provide comprehensive dental care for all people, increasing access to oral health services for thousands of children and adults in Hennepin County and the surrounding communities. In addition, the clinic will provide 30 local jobs for dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and administrative staff.
